From start to finish, everything about Peak Planet was top notch. I did a lot of research online and looked at many different companies, hoping to find the best one — and definitely know we found the best! For starters, love that Peak Planet is part of KPAP. That should be one of the top things to look for in a company. The porters work extremely hard to help you get to the top. Everything from helping to carry your equipment, to setting up camp, coming back after they’ve carried your bags to grab your day pack, cleaning off your equipment, filling you water and purifying it, etc. You definitely want to know that they are getting an appropriate wage and make sure to tip them well after!
Our guide, Caspar was amazing. He was methodical, detailed, and noticed everything about our team. We had a team of 10 and he made sure he did everything he could to help everyone get to the top. He’s also just a great guy and we had a great time hanging out with him and learning a lot about the mountain.
All of our assistant guides and porters were equally as amazing. Every day we would arrive to camp and they would gather around us and sing to us, gathering us in and dancing with us. It was amazing to see how joyful and excited they were each day and really boosted our spirits. All the other groups were looking over and taking pictures as this wasn’t a common thing.
The food was incredible! Props to the chef. I’m lactose intolerant, and though I offered to take lactaid pills, the chef insisted on making two of every meal so that I didn’t have to worry about it. Soup before every meal? Yes please! Can’t believe the meals he was concocting on the mountain.
Poop tent – makes a huge difference when you get sick. Several of us had diarrhea the first few days and appreciated not squatting outside in the cold and digging a hole. Still have to do that during the hike, but at night when it’s freezing, trust me you’ll be glad. The toilet masters really made sure to keep those clean and I was impressed each day with how much care they put into that job.
At the end of the day, everyone’s goal is to make it to the top. But you want to do it safely, you want to have fun, and you want to enjoy the group you are with. Peak Planet sets you up for the greatest success while giving you the experience of a lifetime with an incredible group of people. Not only did we make it to the top, but I was lucky enough to be able to propose to the love of my life and have her say yes at the top! Together we had the most incredible adventure with Peak Planet and were 100% satisfied with everything and everyone. We made a new family during the trip and couldn’t have done it without everyone coming together and helping each other make it to the top.
