Why Does Climbing Kilimanjaro Impress Your Friends?

Our world is inundated with videos and images of our friends doing amazing things on Social Media. From posting videos of backflips off the cliffs in Havasupai, or hammocking next to a lake or living out of a van. We see these images all the time. We spend hours watching videos, one right after the next, of people doing impressive and sometimes crazy things just to say they did it. In this crazy world of social media where everyone is trying to outdo the previous person, how do you stand out? What can you do to be equally, if not more impressive?

We are glad you ask. One of the things that can be really impressive is traveling to a foreign country on an amazing adventure. Imagine standing on the Roof of Africa, next to the Uhuru Peak sign, or getting up close and personal photos of a lion as it lounges on the Serengeti plains or scuba diving in the turquoise waters with the sea turtles off the coast of an exotic island. Climb Kilimanjaro

Above all, your adventure should start by tackling the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. It stands an intimidating 19,341 feet tall. It is the highest point in Africa. Due to its magical draw, it receives thousands of visitors each year. These visitors try to attempt its summit via a variety of routes.

There are several routes you can choose to make your summit attempt.  Which one you ultimately decide to go with can make or break your summit success. They are Lemosho, Machame, Marangu, Northern Circuit, Rongai, Shira, and Umbwe.

We recommend choosing either the 10-Day Lemosho or the 11-Day Northern Circuit routes. Both routes have fewer people, spectacular views and a more than 90% success rate. The 10-day Lemosho is 8 days on the mountain—7 days to the summit. The Northern route is 9 days on the mountain—8 days to the summit. Most importantly, because of the length of these climbs, your body has more time to acclimate to the extreme elevation gain over many days.

Furthermore, there are many locations along the way that have stunning views. Shira Cathedral has an amazing overlook of the rainforest below. The Karanga camp on the Lemosho route also has views of the rainforest with Mount Meru rising above the clouds. The Lemosho and Machame routes scale the infamous Barranco wall. Once you are at the top you have a birdseye view of the Barranco Camp below and a sheer cliff whose edge makes a great location for a group photo or fun selfie.

On the Northern route, you’ll circle around the north side of Kilimanjaro. This is the only route on this side. Far below Kenya stretches out as far as the eye can see. There are also several photo-worthy spots along this route.

Above all, the most sought-after photo is posing on the Uhuru Peak sign at the top of the mountain. It is the reason you went to Africa in the first place. Make sure you go with a company that has a high success rate so you can actually make the summit.
