WELCOME TO PEAK PLANET
Climbing Kilimanjaro is a demanding, challenging feat. Nearly a third of all climbers fail to reach the summit. Why? To succeed on the mountain, it is imperative that climbers are guided by an experienced outfitter, with proven competence, reliability and safety.
Peak Planet has been setting the standard for climbing Kilimanjaro since 2008. Of the hundreds of operators offering Kilimanjaro climbs, only a few are considered reputable. Furthermore, as one of the few specialist companies organizing high-quality Mount Kilimanjaro climbs, Peak Planet is consistently recognized as one of the best operators on Kilimanjaro. Join the thousands of climbers who have stood on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro with us.
Additionally, read the testimonials of our past clients who have climbed Kilimanjaro with Peak Planet. They have only good things to say about our guides, our service, our food and our equipment.
We would be honored to have you climb Kilimanjaro with us.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Peak Planet. If you are reading this, you are probably considering climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with us. We know you have many choices, so we’d like to take this opportunity to explain how we have evolved into a company that truly rivals the industry’s highest performing Kilimanjaro operators.
In the past, we partnered with another outfitter to arrange treks and safaris for our clients. It worked well, though we often felt there were improvements we could make – if only we had the power to affect change. After many years, we finally took our destiny into our own hands. Peak Planet is an independent operator. We have created the finest company on Kilimanjaro by incorporating everything we have always wanted into our very own operation. We couldn’t be more pleased with the result.
We hire the best, most accomplished, experienced Kilimanjaro guides. Every guide is a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR). This is the Western industry standard for professional guides. Our climbs are staffed with a 1:2 guide to climber ratio so clients receive personalized attention. And for safety, our guides conduct daily health checks to measure pulse, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation throughout your climb.
Furthermore, we are partnered with IFREMMONT, a European high altitude medical training organization. They have the most qualified high altitude doctors in the world. Together we co-developed Peak Planet’s Kilimanjaro safety and rescue protocols. We cover all our clients with AMREF Flying Doctors evacuation insurance. In case of serious emergency, this allows us to transport someone quickly via helicopter off the mountain to the hospital. We offer ALTOX Personal Oxygen Systems which reduce or eliminate symptoms of altitude sickness. And we offer Portable Hyperbaric Chambers to rent for your peace of mind. And we have guides that are not only extremely dedicated but are also quite charming. They will become your friends on the mountain. We have an amazing staff and we can’t wait for you to meet them.
We source all of our sleeping tents, dining tents and sleeping pads from Ferrino Equipment, an Italian outdoor company that has been making time-tested high altitude equipment since 1890. We don’t use locally made tents, which have a tendency to topple over in the wind or leak in the rain, like some operators. Our clients will love our warm, roomy tents and comfortable pads. They are new, bright and shiny – and just waiting for you to get inside.
We also use Garmin inReach to track and communicate with every trekking party. These handheld satellite communicators with GPS function on all parts of the mountain and can be used to initiate and coordinate the rescue, adding yet another layer of safety to our already robust operation.
Furthermore, we prepare hot meals on the mountain using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. Trust us, the box lunches that every other company gives to their clients day in and out will sap your energy for they are dry, tasteless and comprised of empty calories. Our mountain chefs will pleasantly surprise you with their delicious entrees. Additionally, we won’t serve you meatless meals (unless that is your dietary requirement) for 50% of the climb like other companies do.
We know that many people psychologically need to eat meat to feel satiated and that protein is actually a necessary macronutrient for proper acclimatization. We make sure we average 200 grams of meat per day over the course of the climb and bring plenty of extra food on every climb so you are never left wanting more.
We are aligned with the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP). KPAP is a non-profit organization that monitors Kilimanjaro operators to protect the welfare of porters. Porter abuse is a big problem on the mountain. Many Kilimanjaro operators underpay, underfeed and overload their staff. Yet, claim they treat their porters well. The only way to be sure your operator isn’t part of the problem is to climb with a KPAP Partner Company. We are also a member of Leave No Trace. We are very proud to have these designations.
One of our main goals is to offer a great value for high-quality services. We evaluate each and every expense carefully to ensure that every cost we incur makes a tangible difference in your experience. We want to have the best service at the lowest price without compromising our high standards. That’s why even though we offer so much more than competing midrange operators, we also manage to keep prices affordable. No other company is a better value.
To sum it up, we have better guides, better equipment, and better meals than our competitors. We operate on a higher level of safety and are more environmentally and socially responsible. And we do it all for less money.
Undoubtedly, the most honest and accurate feedback comes from our clients themselves. With the goal of constantly improving our service, a post-climb survey is taken from each client in order to assess our staff, equipment and food.

Davis and his assistants (Immanuel, Immanuel, and Rebman) did a FANTASTIC JOB. Davis adjusted how he does things to accommodate our group. He always had safety first followed closely by encouraging us to achieve our goal. I would recommend to friends and highly recommend Davis.

Our trip was so successful because of the experienced guides that we had. The skill levels, experience, and age of the trekkers varied widely, and that took lots of well-experienced leadership to guide and control the pace of the group rather than individuals going astray. The only information I underestimated was the total preparation and… Read more “Our trip was so successful because of the experienced guides that we had.”
Our 4-Day safari was wonderful. Our trips to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National park offered many of Tanzania’s beautiful scenery, animals and people.
